FAQs

What separates Paskowitz Sea Academy from other lessons?

The Paskowitz family has been surfing since the dawn of the sport. Adam’s father, “Doc", was a surfing pioneer being one of the first surfers in all of the California hot-spots, Hawaii and Israel. He also started the first-ever surf camp in 1972 where Adam grew up teaching the sport and surfing professionally. To read more about the family history click here. Adam has continued surfing throughout his adult life as well as teaching thousands of people to surf over the years. His time living and traveling the world by boat as a USCG 100T licensed captain has given him the deeper experience on the ocean as well as a deeper understanding of water safety and wave science.

Surf experiences with us are founded on generations of surfing history (it’s genetic at this point!) and a lifetime on the ocean which creates a deep respect and connection to this special part of our world. Our lessons go beyond learning to stand up on the board.

I already know how to surf but really want to improve, can you help?

Absolutely! We are confident in our ability to help you take your surfing to the next level. We can also help challenge you more through choice of surf spot.

Do I need to bring my own surfboard?

If you do not have your own board, not a problem! We have boards you can borrow. If you do have your own, bring it!

What else do I need to bring?

All you need to bring is any gear you have like board & wetsuit, towel, change of clothes, water and any personal items you need (just make sure you’re comfortable leaving them on the beach.)

We will bring beach chairs, umbrellas, a snack, and surfboards.

Where will we surf?

We are based in Southern California for lessons - we are flexible in organizing a good surf spot for your skills and goals. We can set up a single location closest to you or we can meet at various spots for you to experience different waves. If you have a dream surf experience whether it’s in California or anywhere in the world, it’s all possible!

What ages can you teach?

We’ve taught surfers as young as 6 years old and as young as 80!
